You have been hired by the Module Company to design their newest Programming module. How will you improve it? What will you add? What will you remove? Will you offer games? Tests? How will students be graded? Be creative and design an amazing module.
I have been hired by a Module Company to design their newest Programming module. It is an oppurtunity of a lifetime. I have much experience from doing Modules and I have seen some things that would need improvement. I would change the length of the paragraphs. Some kids can get bored with the amount of information and you want to try to keep students as intrigued as possible. Sometimes it will go on for two to three pages. Which seems to be unnecessary.I would also change how they ask a question relating to a passage that was three or four pages previous, so you can't really recall the information. They should give you a question right after the passage. I will add the amount of hands on activities. There were a few that really helped me understand a concept, but there weren't enough. There are only certain points that they provide a hands on activity for. I would add a hands on activity after every concept that the module explains. I know from experience that it would most definately help students understand concepts better. I would also add more images of the objects that the module describes like a desktop, or an H drive. Some kids dont know some computer devices and now they can learn them. There really is nothing that you can remove. Everything is pretty helpful and should stay in the modules to help provide students with the maximum understanding of the topics. The only thing that could be removed would be the length of the information so that we can keep the interest of the students as much as possible. I would definately offer games that could help students understand a concept better in a fun way. Their could be an action game that when you shoot the proper term for the statement you get points. Something fun like that.
I think the games and hand on activities are enough tests for the students so I don't think that it would be necessary to have tests.Plus the students have to answer the questions. Students will be graded depending on how they perform on the games and in the activities. They will mainly be graded on the amount of questions they get correct. Depending on how many questions there are they will mainly be about two points. Hopefully students will learn concepts about technology as much as possible with these new ideas for the modules.
In today's world it is important to specialize. Pick one area of information technology from something discussed in class and discuss how it could translated into a career. Find jobs available in that area on Monster.com or a similar job hunting website. Explain why you are interested in this particular field.
There is one area of information in technology that as a class we discussed, that could provide someone with a careeropputunity. This topic is HTML. You could have a career where you create websites that could help benefit the world or websites that just help entertain people in this world. Websites that could just make someone smile. It sounds like a great career, and you'll have such an important purpose. You could do something with page design.
